Mickey ran off towards the water, his flip flops stirring up a little bit of the clear sand, and a small bag strung over his shoulder. He finally stopped at the shore line, as foamy water advanced and retreated rhythmically. 'This should be a good spot for him to feed!' he thought to himself. He rolled up the sleeves of his jeans, took the flip flops off, then walked further into the water. The ocean was a tad-bit chilly, but he was used to it at this point. He grew up with his Magikarp, cold water didn't really bother him.
The water was up to his knees now. Mickey smiled and reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a pokeball. He then threw it into the air, shouting "Come on, Wyra!". The Magikarp with some white and black splotches then appeared out of the red light. Wyra then gently went into the water, then looked around and faced Mickey, saying "Karp kaaarp...". Mickey then reached into his bag, and pulled out some pecha berries. He then tossed a couple towards Wyra, who quickly swallowed them in a few bites, one by one.
Mickey then pulled out a rindo berry, held it in his hand for a while, then tossed it as far into the air as he could. He shouted "Wyra, jump!", then instantaneously, the calico Magikarp flew out of the water and caught the berry mid air. Mickey laughed as salty water splashed him after Wyra came back down.

Elder, being one of the first to get off of the boat, had scouered the city for everything new and exciting. After what seemed like a long time, the dark skinned boy bought lunch--a hamburger and fries with a chocolate shake to drink. No foster home employee was there to tell him he couldn't. No one said he shouldn't either! Giddy, he had bought Ro his own food, and eagerly the two rushed to the ocean. They have both lived their entire lives on the island of Alola. The long trip across the ocean mad him nestolgic for home despite it being less than a day of being on the island. Good news, they were bound to be near the ocean where ever they went. Elder wasn't too worried about not seeing the ocean. Yet, the two sat on the board walk, enjoying their meal.
He chewed thoughtfully, watching the other trainer begin to teach his Magikarp to jump. The young boy gasped in awe as the fish leaped into the air, snaching the rindo berry out of the air--like a pro! Yellow eyes wide, Elder stuffed the rest of his food in his mouth, and took up the Stufful in his arms. He threw off his shoes where the other boy did, the water up to his thighs when he reached the other boy. "That's so cool! Your Magikarp can jump so high!" Elder excitedly looked for the Magikarp in the water. "How did you teach them to do that?"

Mickey wiped the water off of his face when he heard another kid enter the water and admired Wyra. He smiled a little bit as the Magikarp now laid still in front of him, swallowing what remained of the rindo berry. "Thank you!" he said, rubbing his own arm. He knelt down and pat Wyra from beneath the water. "Back in my hometown, pokemon trainers would train Magikarps to jump real high. A couple years ago, I met this one person who trained the best Magikarps. Some of them could jump as high as mountains! I wanted to be as good as that person, so I fished Wyra here up myself, and trained him since!" he explained, petting Wyra's scales.
He then stood back up straight and looked at the other kid. "My name is Mickey by the way, what's your name?" he asked as he readjusted the bag on his shoulder.

Elder nodded along. "They teach them to do that there? That's pretty neat!" he enthused. His eyes trailed down to where he pat the Magikarp under the water. Bending over, he too pet the pokemon, careful not to get his shorts more wet with sea water than they already were. "My name is Elder, and I taught my Stufful how to fight with his fists!" He offered the other boy a large grin, mimicking a punching motion as the Stufful crawled to his back, holding onto his backpack like one would a mother.
"But--wouldn't a fall from a mountain hurt?" The boy asked, tilting his head. They must be super strong to jump so high, but how can they come back down without getting hurt?

Wyra's tail thrashed a tiny bit as Elder suddenly pet him, but quickly calmed down afterwards. The Magikarp now slowly circled the two trainers. Mickey looked at the Stufful and smiled a bit, "That sounds really cool!". To be honest, Wyra wasn't the best in combat. Most Magikarp aren't. Mickey didn't mind that though. That's why they're here! To become super strong! Then maybe his Magikarp will be stronger than that person back home...
Mickey blinked as Elder questioned about how Magikarps don't get hurt. "Oh, well... Magikarp still jump really high up in the wild, they don't seem to care. In the leagues there, they'd have a huge paper drum in order to break the fall, and under that is a hole filled with water so the Magikarp safely land in water," he explained. He then looked towards the island. "But anyway, I came here to help me and Wyra to become stronger," Mickey then turned back towards Elder, "So, what brings you here?".

A wide 'O' was made by Elder as the older boy explained how the pokemon survive such a fall. It made sense, the young trainer supposed. It wouldn't be the weirdest traditon he knew about. As the boy started talking, Elder nodded firmly as Wyra stated they were here to get stronger. "Us too! But, more to prove we are strong enough." He looked back at Ro, who watched the Magikarp with interest. "I didn't grow up with a family, but I grew up with other kids like me. And they said I couldn't do it." Yellow eyes narrowed, and the boy stamped his foot has hard as he could in the water, creating a bit of a splash. "But I'm going to do it! I'm going to become a super strong trainer." His voice was laced with determination, and his eyes searched the other boy's for a trace of doubt. Yet, after a moment he relaxed and the smile returned. "We should do it together! Become ultra strong trainers as friends! How does that sound?"

Mickey stared back at the Stufful, then towards Wyra, and back at Elder. He didn't think of this guy as someone people would try to bring down. He didn't doubt him and his Stufful were strong, but people really thought otherwise? "Yeah, the people back at my hometown didn't think a Magikarp could defeat a league in other regions," he muttered.
His eyes lit up at Mickey's offer. "Sure! We both can become super strong!" he smiled and nodded a "yes".

Elder nodded back. "Deal, then!" The younger boy fell silent as he watched the Magikarp swim. After a long moment of looking around, his yellow eyes went wide. "Oh! Do you maybe want to get stronger by catching some pokemon?" He asked, beginning to search around for any wild pokemon, heading deeper into the water, despite it soon being up to his waist. "Do you know where water pokemon usually hide?" He asked Mickey with a grin.

Mickey didn't expect Elder to suggest that. Maybe fishing up a team to accompany Wyra wouldn't be a bad idea? Back in Hoppy Town, if you fished up anything but a Magikarp, you'd release it and try again. Although, it could help him get stronger, so he said "Sure!". He reached back into his bag, and pulled out an old rod. He then walked further into the water until he was near Elder. "People back home would say that pokemon shelter in rocks and stuff, but since there aren't a lot of rocks here, you just try to cast the line into deep water," he tried his best to explain. He slowly drew the old rod back before casting it off a few feet ahead. He waited a moment, then he finally felt something tug at the line, and quickly started to try reeling it in.
Encounter Dice: 96wbVPSz1-250
Eventually, the bob of the rod was close enough, so he yanked the entire rod up. A Staryu finally emerged from the water, letting out an angry "HYAH" as it hovered a bit above the water. Mickey's heart quickened, he never fished up a pokemon like this before. He shook the anxiety away and shouted "Wyra, tackle!". Afterwards, the Magikarp emerged from the water and tackled the Staryu. It wasn't dealing too much damage, it kind of just slapped the Staryu before falling back into the water. The star-shaped pokemon now was looking at Wyra, and from the gem in the center, it tried attack with Water Gun, though the Magikarp managed to swim away from it.
Mickey now realized the Staryu was distracted, so he quickly reached into his bag and pulled out a pokeball. He took a deep breath, then threw the ball at the Staryu, who turned around with a surprised "Hyah?!" as the ball hit it and consumed it in red light. The red light dragged the pokemon into the ball before it shut closed and fell down. The pokeball now floated on top of the water.
Catching Dice: 1-10
The ball shook twice, but unfortunatly the ball was forced open and the Staryu emerged even angrier. It sank into the water and he could see water beginning to kick up as it attempted to swim away.
Escape Dice: 1-25
The Staryu only got a few inches away before Wyra emerged from the water with his mouth opened wide, then drove Staryu back. Mickey's breathing quickened as he tried again, throwing another pokeball. The Staryu shouted angrily as it was consumed in red light again.
Catching Dice 2: 1-10
The ball shook once. Mickey's hands went up to his mouth as his breath quickened. It shook twice. He felt as though his heart would beat out of his chest.
Click.
Mickey laughed and grinned as he picked the ball up from the water's surface. He held it up and waved it, saying "I got it!".1-250·1-10·1-25·1-10

"Wow! That's a nice catch. Such a cool pokemon too!" Elder jumped, sloshing through the water to get back to Mickey's side. He looked on as he put the pokeball away. "Can I give it a try?" After confirmation from Mickey, Elder recived the rod, and did his best to follow what Mickey had explained earlier. Cast into the deep water...
ItZWYI|Z1-250
After a long minute, he felt a tug, and suddenly, he felt like he was back in Alola. With a yank, he began reeling in the Tentacool. Excited, the boy shouted--"Ro, give em' a what for!" The pokemon on his back leaped off, lightning crackling in it's paw, directly onto the Tentacool as it leaped from the water. Ro landed in the water, weighed down by the weight of it's fur, but managed to get back to his trainer as he threw the pokeball at the wild pokemon. 1-18 It didn't last long in the pokeball, as it erupted out in a red light, splashing back into the water. "Nice job, Ro!"
1-18 Yelping, Elder quickly threw another ball at it before it could get too far away.
1-12 Similar to Mickey, the pokemon on the second try did not try to escape. Ro climbed back up onto Elder's back, soaking wet as Elder picked up the floating pokeball. "I hope he doesn't hate me for that." Elder mused, turning back to his friend. "I did it too! Thanks for your help! Do you wanna keep looking for cool pokemon?"1-250·1-18·1-18·1-12

Mickey smiled as his new friend caught a pokemon as well. "That one's cool to! And your Stufful was real cool!" he smiled. He gently took the old rod back, "I think I have enough pokeballs for one more pokemon...", he said. He cast it back into the water, and then waited.

Suddenly, something tough grabbed the line, and it even started to drag the line down a bit. He managed to get the line up, and a Corphish had it's claw on the line. Mickey quickly threw a pokeball, though the Corphish seemed much more confused and calm than the angry Staryu. It let out a drawn out "Coooorp?" as the red light swallowed it whole and dragged it into the pokeball.
Catching Dice: 1-10
The ball shook twice and clicked. Mickey smiled again as he picked the ball up. "That's two!" he said, "You can try to get another pokemon if you want. I think I'll go back to the shore in a minute, get a better look at the new friends, ya know?". He offered Elder the rod again, in case he wanted to fish another time.1-250·1-10

The younger boy laughed as Mickey reeled in a confused Corphish who didn't seem to bother to fight the pokeball. As soon as he suggested one more pokemon Elder nodded eagerly, taking back the offered rod and looking eagerly out into the ocean. "Let's see who get get next, Ro!" rnr954|M1-250 As Elder reeled in the pokemon, frowning as another Tentacool appeared on the end of his rod. "Oh, sorry buddy. I already have one of you." Then letting the pokemon go, he casted the line back into the deep water. 1-250 Elder pulled the rod, and blinked. Once. Twice. Three times. "What?" He yelled. At the end of his rod was a Bunnelby, who looked up at him just as confused. "Why are you in the water?" The pokemon let go of the line and began to tread water, head tilted. The boy's mouth was open for a long moment, before remembering--"Oh, right!" A pokeball was tossed towards the pokemon.
1-8 The pokemon didn't seem to fight back, but accept the pokeball that tapped it on its head. "That was so weird." Elder told the other trainer. "Why was a Bunnelby in the water?" He questioned, picking up the pokeball, and beginning the treck back to shore. 1-250·1-250·1-8

Mickey tilted his head and shrugged as Elder came back... fishing up a Bunnelby. "That's pretty weird," he agreed. He went onto the sand, and threw his sandals back on. "So, I guess I'll get a better look at the pokemon I got?" he held the two pokeballs in his hands. He sent out the Corphish and Staryu. The Corphish just looked confused, and the Staryu looked ready to fight. "What to name them though..." he wondered out loud, muttering. He then pointed towards the Staryu, "Astral, and...", he then pointed towards the Corphish, "...Kani.". He then smiled a bit and nodded in confirmation of his choice, "Yeah, that'll do."

Elder followed him back, and tossed out his two new pokemon, a Tentacool and a Bunnelby. He sat in the gentle lap of the waves so the Tentacool could sit in the water, but the Bunnelby could begin to dry it's fur. "Hmmm. What to name all of you..." He hummed, then pointed to the Tentacool, who looked up expectantly. "Wuzei, and..." He pats the bunny's head. "Tuzi!" He seemed proud of himself, and Ro gave a bark like sound in agreement. Looking back up at the older boy, Elder grined. "We are pretty strong already! I can't wait to see what comes our way next."
