'Okay, so... I'm here, I guess.' Blaire stared out at the long stretch of plains, grass blowing in the gentle breeze as far as the eye could see. It almost felt like a dream that she was in Amrys. Not because of her long-held desperation to go there, but just the fact that she wasn't home anymore. The thought of leaving Cinnabar Island had terrified her for years, and she had become resigned to the fact that she'd just live there forever. She would have to follow in the footsteps of either of her parents, and that would be that. Now she had made herself leave, and she was experiencing a brand new land for the first time. She could take a bold step towards her dreams... if she knew exactly what those were.
Sighing softly, she sat down on the grass and closed her eyes, trying to let herself feel at least some source of pride. Leaving the island she'd spent her entire life on had to be some sort of achievement. After seven years of not being able to be within sightline of the shores, she had boarded a boat of all things to get to Amrys. Thinking about it made her shudder, hugging her legs to her chest. 'Not looking forward to doing that again...' The water was anathema to a calm state of mind, and she still found it hard to believe that she'd gone through an entire boat ride without having a major panic attack. It was over, though, and as long as she stayed in places like she was at the moment, she wouldn't have to deal with that anymore. This was fine.
She pulled out her lone Pokéball and tossed it out, letting her Growlithe out. He immediately bounded over to her, pawing at her legs. Smiling softly, she let him climb onto her lap and make himself comfortable. She ran a hand across her fur, still wondering what exactly she was going to do when her time there was up. There were Pokémon to catch and gyms to defeat, but at some point she would have to come to terms with the fact that that was all a distraction. She'd have to do something with her life, but... what?

The art of catching Pokemon. Frankly, Ramona never thought about it. She waded through fields of wild grass, swatting at legs as if some invisible Joltik kept springing on them, lifting her lofty sun hat from her head so long as to wipe sweat from her face. Why did she have to go here, of all places? She read up on the wild areas of the small region, volcanoes and snowy forests and forests streaming with toxic rivers. Surely a field would have been the easiest choice, but in the open sun she longed for a canopy to rest beneath, or perhaps a pond to swim in. She hadn't seen a pond in eons.
But if she caught a new friend, her suffering would bear fruit. Ramona stopped walking, peered in all directions as if to stubbornly decide that her new companion had to be close, that there was no more walking to be had. And in a great bout of luck, she spotted winks of orange fur through the tall, swaying grass. Perhaps it was a Vulpix? She threw out her Pokemon before deciding on a strategy.
"Jello, Psywave!" she pointed to Blaire's Growlithe without spotting the girl in the overgrown brush.

Blaire heard the call from an unknown person, but that didn't give her enough time to do anything about. Both her and her Growlithe's heads lifted up to the sound, only to get hit square-on by a Psychic attack. Reddick - her Growlithe - let out a surprised cry of pain as it took the brunt of an unseen Pokémon's attack, but Blaire herself wasn't completely spared. Though she didn't get hit head-on, she could feel the attack tingling on her skin, causing her to fall flat on her back with her Growlithe held tight in her hands. She was temporarily dazed, staring at the clear sky and wondering what in the world had happened. It took her a couple moments, but she was finally able to push herself up onto her feet.
She felt shaky, nearly going right back down to the ground the moment she stood up. A girl was standing in the grass, staring right in her direction. There was no doubt that she had been the one to call the attack. "Hey! What the heck was that for?!" She shouted indignantly, while her Growlithe, now up on all fours, growled angrily. There was a wobbling green within the grass, a different shade than the blades themselves.

Jello looked pleased with himself, as satisfied as any jiggly blob could be. Ramona, however, heard the shout and seized. She wondered at first if that Pokemon just talked, if this region was more exotic than she thought. Of course, it didn't take her long to see the person she had just attacked.
"Jello, no!" she said, as if it were its fault. She waded through the tall grass to bridge the gap, suddenly imbued with the energy she was unwilling to spend before. "Are you all right?"

"I'm... I'm fine." Blaire still felt a bit out-of-sorts, but her anger quickly dissipated as she saw the girl run over to her. It didn't seem like she'd done it on purpose, though that didn't take away from the fact that she had in the first place. "Just... be careful next time, alright?" She crossed her arms, staring down the girl with a serious expression. Then she heard her Growlithe still growling, his eyes darting between the girl and her green blob that apparently was some kind of Pokémon. Honestly, she didn't know what in the world that was. "It's okay, Reddick. It's okay." At his trainer's reassurances, he settled down at her side, though he still didn't look too happy about what had happened.

The decompression of the girl's anger in turn decompressed Ramona, who still stood like her shoulders were blocks of cement. She let out a breath, covered her mouth to the Growlithe. She was close enough with her initial estimation; before even responding to or introducing herself to the girl, she squatted down and gave a wave, more of a finger flex than anything. It was as if she was too scared to move, as if one wrong twitch of the muscle would send it away from her forever.
"Hi, little guy..." she breathed. Sweat trickled unattended to down her forehead, her matted hair; what a gremlin she had to look like, but she was too entranced to realize.

| S usie lied down in the field of flowers for well-deserved nap. Being a trainer is hard and keep tads on the pokemon even harder through she loved a good challenge. There was so much too do and she would get all done eventually! Her family has their image to maintain in the line light while she just lurked into shadows with Xander and Alcor. There roles were very clear as day but today Susie just wanted some time to herself for change. Nothing could go wrong...yelling and a lot of it.
Well so much for a nice day. She growled get up and whistle for Bellatrix. She was a little busy terrorizing a nearby poochyena but glance sensing her trainer annoyance. "Let's go, Bell! There time point to waste, I got bone to pick with a few jerks."The Gible growled look at her prey one last look before following. Finally at the scene of crime where two not so lovely ladies were in bad mood just as her. "Excuse me for interrupting this lovely show but people are trying to relax out here without so much noise." |

Seeing the girl looking so... well, terrified wasn't the word she was looking for. It was as if this girl was afraid her Growlithe would jump up and try to take a bite out of her face. The thought almost made her laugh out loud, as her Pokémon had never so much as attempted to hurt another human. Of course, the girl didn't know that, and she had attacked them, so it was fair for her to be cautious. It wasn't fair to leave her in the lurch any longer, though.
"It's okay. He won't hurt you." She went down and started to pet Growlithe, whispering to him. "She didn't mean any harm, Reddick. You can say hi." He looked up at her, then turned to the girl and gave her a friendly bark. The 'battle preparation' aura that had surrounded him seemed to have completely dissipated, and it seemed odd to even think of him as having been that angry dog mere moments ago. Now that that was settled, there was still the question of who this girl was.
"So..." She frowned slightly. Making conversation with people had never been her strong suit, especially when it came to people her own age. Talking with adults had always been easier for her, but she wasn't going to be surrounded by adults here. There were going to be plenty of people her own age, and she just needed to get over it. How hard was it to just say her own name and ask for her's? "My name's Blaire. What's your name?"
Or at least, it wasn't supposed to be hard. Another unfamiliar voiced called out, though at least it wasn't shouting out an attack. One taken was more than enough. However, the voice didn't sound particularly friendly. Blaire's eyes left the first girl and moved up to a second girl, though this one looked older than either of them. It looked as if she'd have a few inches on Blaire if she was standing up, and she didn't look all too happy. Something about her appearance made her bristle, and she stood back up with her question temporarily pushed to the side.
"There's nothing going on here, and there's plenty of field for you to do... whatever." She crossed her arms, feeling a tenseness entering her muscles. Whoever this woman was, she didn't like her attitude.

Ramona reached out a hand, ran it through the ginger fur of the little puppy Pokemon. It was as soft as it looked, as she could ever dream. "I'm Ramona," she said her eyes fixed on the little creature before her. She removed her hat, and Jello settled on her naked head with a soft squish, its body forming around her hair like a substitute, its face bouncing and jiggling from the light impact. The girl didn't notice the third party; she barely noticed Blaire anymore. She plotted in her mind how to clone a Growlithe with just a Solosis and a straw hat..

| B ellatrix took the notion to move closer towards the human Blaire and her Growlithe. Not enough to provoke a fight to get a point across she was willing and able. She missed a chance to hunt prey thanks to them so if one of them wanted to brawl she would be very brutal.
"Gi-Gible Gib!" (That trainer of your better watch her mouth!) She told that dog pokemon. Sue didn't seem to care either not her pokemon would strike without her command. While still being annoyed, this girl and her zest was giving her a good show on it's own. "The same words can also apply to you as well but I am going leave at that for now."Why waste more breath on a brat? She shrugged placing a hand on her hip. "You can me Sue and that Gible there is Bellatrix. She doesn't bite unless you want her too, most of the time. Anyway neither of you don't look like your from the islands, so foreign travelers I take it?" |

The girl's name - Ramona - filtered into the background of Blaire's mind. Her focus had now fixated on the other woman, 'Sue' apparently. She narrowed her eyes, still very much not liking her tone. Oh, so she was going to leave it at that, then? Ugh, she wanted to do the exact opposite, but how would it look if she got into a fight so soon upon stepping foot on the island. She didn't want to be sent home right away.
"Yes. I'm from Kanto." She didn't say any more than that, feeling as if she needed to keep any further information close to the vest. There was definitely something about this woman that she didn't trust. She certainly wasn't going to thank her for the introduction, nor was she feeling kind enough to introduce herself in turn. Plus, what the heck was she talking about with her Gible not biting 'unless you want her to'? What kind of weirdos lived here anyway?
Meanwhile, Growlithe had been happily pushing up against Ramona's hand, happily accepting the pets, when he was rudely interrupted by Sue's Gible. He stepped away from Ramona, eyes narrowed and growling at the little dragon. He was a loyal pup, and he didn't take too kindly to others saying negative things about his trainer.

Ramona was only aware of the confrontation when she saw Growlithe turn and grow hostile. Ramona looked over at the small dragon, put a hand on Jello to keep the little guy from rolling off her head. What was going on here? Were they about to fight in the middle of this field, half a mile from the nearest town?
"Unova," she said, standing up with her hand still on the little, bobbing Solosis. Its contents swirled around its green, gelatinous body, its face lulling yet its expression unaffected. "I'm not a traveler, I'm challenging the Pokemon League."

Sue's Template | O h the conversation turning into a lovely event. She could almost feel the annoying growing in the young girl. See the young are fresh meat that has to be seasoned or cook properly. They didn't know how the works aside from what there moms or daddies what them to know. It was pathetic to say the least.
"Alright, Ramado." Sue clearly don't care was getting her name wrong. "Your come from the average region tends be on weaker side of things, I would almost pity you but you smart enough to move away from a stupid place like that." Maybe the kit had an atom of wisdom in her body after all? There seemed to be tension between her pokemong and the pup. She just let them sort it out their way. No big deal but a hurt reason would learned. "Oh another pokemon trainer but from the look of that Solosis. You have a lot of work ahead of you but maybe you'll make it and become stronger or you'll just stay a weakling and have to watch as the land will chew you and spit you with no remorse! Only time will tell!"
Oh she anger the puppy pokemon! Perfect she was looking for something to vent on maybe turning the little guy into a shark bait would go her kindly! The girl looked at her for what reason than protect someone else pokemon from getting utter destroyed. She knew first hand was it like being one the losing end of things however she knew better. She ws stronger than before and would take down anything that should in her and her trainer's way.
"Gib-Gible Gib." (Aw...you need another trainer to "help" calm down, cute.) She growled dang her foot against the ground like she was ready to ram him at moment notice! "Gible -Gib- Gib- Gible!" (If you want to fight then let's go. I'll crush you) |

Blaire's focused anger on Sue was shifted when she heard her Growlithe growling. She looked down, surprised to see that Sue's Gible had waddled over and seemed to be trying to pick a fight with her Pokémon. "Reddick, no!" She dropped down and tried to pull him away from the little dragon, soothingly stroking his fur. "It's not worth it." She looked back up at Sue, glaring at her. "Why don't you call your little lizard back before it gets hurt?" She hadn't prepared to get into any fights out there, but this girl was really tempting her...

Sue's comments were too abrasive to process fully. So Ramona didn't. "Time will tell..." she repeated with a disconcerted frown, hollow thought in her eyes as she tried to understand how to act around someone like this. She had her bullies in school. Her reactions were always minute, faraway, like her body shut down until it all was over, if it would ever be over. Dad said he liked that about her, that her warmest emotions shown most vividly. Like her skin was paper and if she got too hot it'd ignite and retreat up her arms.
Were the Amrys Islands the chew-you-up-and-spit-you-out kind of region? Was she in over her head? Her only aspirations in this place were fun and adrenaline. She looked across the plains to the red rocks far away, and it felt like she was grappled to the side of one. Time passed in throbbing seconds.
