HISTORY
Centuries ago...
The Amrys Islands is at the crossroads of folklore in many cultures across the Pokémon world. It has an impossibly diverse climate, often attributed to the influences of mythical and legendary creatures that are said to consider the islands a resting place or home. Ruins exist beneath vast jungles and forests and canyons, painting stories of those who used to live on the island. From stories and legends, many believe those ancient Amrysian tribes and cultures interacted directly with the legendary Pokémon inhabiting the island, though those days are long gone.
The Aestor Islands, a small cluster of lands to the region's northeast, hold many of the ancient mysteries of the Amrys Islands. This hard-to-locate archipelago is said to be filled with ruins and allusions to legendary creatures.
The first cities...
The Amrys Islands developed long after many of the larger, more-populated regions. when it picked up, however, it was rapid and intense, with cities mimicking the massive population centers of neighboring areas: Goldenrod City, Saffron City, and even the faraway Castelia City. Huanglu City became one of the largest metropolises in the world, and despite the relatively snug size of the region, it seemed a Pokémon League was inevitable...

PRESENT
A Pokémon League...
The Amrys Islands became something of a melting pot as the region became a hub of development in the Pokémon world. From this multi-regional interest came Kantonian businessman Sachihiro Park, an ex-Champion of the world's oldest Pokémon League. He founded a new Pokémon League with the help of the highly-influential Citadel Company and funds from decades of work in his home region. Before the start of the site, it's spent years in development.
As the Pokémon League enters its inaugural season, a grand opening, advertisements and notices were sent out all across the world inviting trainers to compete in the Islands. With these came the promise of free lodging, in hopes of attracting people to an eager tourism industry with the influences of the League, and perhaps to help plant people in the Islands for good.
A cultural boom...
The Amrys Islands are amid a cultural peak alongside the rise of its Pokémon League, which has begun to bleed into other regions. Huanglu City-based entertainment has had billions invested into it, leading to an explosion of forces such as A-Pop and a booming movie industry. The Huanglu Threatre Company is responsible for the Song of the Taillows, which has taken multiple regions by storm.
Huanglu City is an up-and-coming metropolis, leading many trainers eager to pursue the region's Pokémon League. Kikokawa's beautiful traditionalism has transfixed many who stay, and Marrasay City is... rather entrancing in its own strange ways. Together, the Amrys Islands are in a fascinating cocktail of cultural diversity.
The Citadel Company...
The Citadel Company's origins are uncertain, but it's believed to be centuries old, having sprung up alongside Huanglu City itself. Nowadays they are a company defined by their eclectic properties, owning everything from a power company that supplies the region to a music label supporting the region's new A-Pop craze. The Citadel Company is responsible for the explosion of metropolitan influences on the region's development; they almost single-handedly built Marrasay City, and are planning a new city beneath Windlass Island's massive volcano.
The Lotus Society...
The Lotus Society is a secret group located in the Amrys Islands, whose anonymous members are defined only by their membership cards and the flowery masks they wear during meetings. It is widely considered a dangerous and criminal organization by most politicians on the island, and its members are known to steal Pokémon. They are supposedly planning to somehow combine the power of all those they capture in order to achieve the fabled Tier 21, imposing it on a legendary creature of their control. Those who join the Lotus Society are expected to turn in their Pokémon for the greater good once the Day of action comes.
Lotus Society vandalism is common, especially in Marrasay City's dark corridors. Glowing, pink, spray-painted lotus flowers announcing the arrival of The Day are their signature marking. The flowers themselves are left on benches, beneath streetlamps, on restaurant tabletops, once-innocuous items now a symbol of something uneasy that is brewing in the region's belly. Mischief like this is a byproduct of the society's cultlike organization and the enthusiasm of its members toward their cause.
FUTURE
The first champion...
A tournament is scheduled when enough trainers collect eight badges, one to decide the Pokémon League's first champion. For those challenging the League, this is the final objective, to qualify for this tournament. Gym leaders may cater to your strengths, but you must be as strong as possible if you want to be the champion, more powerful than any of your adversaries. Will you be the first ever champion of the Amrys Islands?
Sinister plans...
The Lotus Society preaches grandeur and a power unlike anything ever seen, the kind of power that can be used to change the world for the good. Perhaps that's scary for some, but maybe it's inspiring for others. Maybe the Lotus Society is not the only force in the dark underbelly of this small, enigmatic region. When something springs up this quickly, after all, there's bound to be things still living in its darkest recesses...
The volcano in the distance...
The Amrys Volcano is seen as a deity to the most traditional residents of this region. It is said that a mythical force will cause it to erupt someday, bridging Windlass Island with the mainland forever. Surely that's not outside the realm of possibilities.
