The day had come, one that had been planned for what felt like generations. The clear sky swirled blue and white, and biplanes floated like paper in a vast sea, streamers behind them shouting welcome messages and advertisements. They disappeared behind the great bodies of three ships, their horns transfixing the sun. The great Victory Harbor, normally clear for runners, formed an ornate path of red and green and orange streamers to the Pokémon Center Tower, which showed itself between the glass facades and neon lights of the city, and above everything was a loud, jubilant music.
In the center of it all was a stage. Sachihiro Park smoked a cigarette and checked his watch. If one didn't know who he was, they'd assume he hated all of this. His eyebrows were sharp as ice picks, his breaths those of a man close to snapping. All around were the sounds of pop-up shops preparing for the foreigners to disembark, with signs announcing Slowpoke Tail, Moo Moo Milk battered rice balls, gold-painted knickknacks. Park glared at a solar-powered Meowth toy, its shiny paw waving back and forth and so on forever.
The boat's deck brimmed with people whose long trips saw them eager to reach land. They clung to banisters, waved to the locals that watched from the streets, some with apathetic glances. Taillows and Wingulls circled them and cried out, and Spheals clapped their flippers from the dock's edge, and all around people cheered.

Sasha elbowed his way through the crowd, anything to get closer to the edge, to the island itself. He'd really been on the road long enough, and even if he wasn't sea-sick, he sure was sick of the sea. The Honedge sticking out of his backpack blinked its single eye lazily, not looking at anything in particular.
The chances he would have gotten here had been slim. He didn't have any money, didn't have any family to lend him some and send him on his way. Still, there he was - not about to let the chance slip. Even though he'd be spending half of his time working day jobs just to pull through enough cash to stay around. He managed to catch a hold of the ship's railing, pulling himself to the edge and almost over, in his hurry. It looked brighter than the sun, to him.
While people were crowding towards the front of the ship, watching as they drew closer and closer to land, a tall figure managed to slip out of the general mess. Someone stepped on his old shoes, but he didn't really say anything. Zappa had flown away some time ago, although the man figured it'd be back sometime soon. Towards the tail of the ship, he found the deck freer. He took a number of deep breaths - the air tasted like salt. A rounded shape circled the air above him, before a Farfetch'd landed clumsily on the top of his guitar case, almost whacking him over the head with the leek it was so attached to.
Ross reached behind and stroked its beak. Must be a real joy, for all these people, getting to the island. He didn't doubt he wasn't the only miserable wash-up in the crowd, but gee, it really felt like he didn't belong in this show of excitement. Zappa nipped on his finger hard enough that he knew to pull back and give it space, withdrawing his hand and sticking it into his pocket. A packet of smokes tempted him. He didn't feel like breaking his record of not breathing in garbage for this entire journey, so he tried to ignore it.
He had his entire life (minus a couple of faces he'd rather not mention) in a luggage, and a not-so-distant future he wasn't bold enough to look at.

A young boy stood on his tip toes to see over the boat's railing and towards the beautiful island infront of him. He cheered out, waving his hand toward the island excitedly. In his other arm was the boy's Stufful who waved as well, looking up at its trainer with gleeming eyes. "Ah! You're excited too, Ro, aren't you?" The boy asked, shifting the pokemon in his arms.
The road to get there had been tiresome, and most people had treated him off handedly. It seemed like no one was taking him seriously. A determined glint caught his eye as Elder looked on towards the island. "We will definately prove them wrong, Ro!" His declaration lost to the wind, and the cheers. Ro gave Elder a curt nodd just before a teen bumped past him, getting close to the railing. Spot taken, Elder opened his mouth to argue, but thought better of it. "Let's get in line to get off. I have a feeling we will have plenty of enough time to see the view later." With that, Ro settled in Elder's arms as they pushed their way out of the crowd, towards the gangplank where they would disembark for the Amrys Islands.
Oh--where they there already? Shepard peered past the windows of the lounge toward the island in the glittering waters with a sleepy gaze. He got a bit sea sick, so Shepard opted to sleep though the journey when he could. A smile cracked the corner of his mouth. "Fiero, we are almost there. Want to get outside to--" He glanced down to the deck below. A multitude of people milled about below. It looked rather cramped. Narrowing his eyes, Shepard gave his Vulpix a glance. "That's a no from you too, huh?" Fiero barked sharply in response, her tail swishing. Abruptly, the pokemon took her trainer's hand and pulled him out of his chair. "Ow! Hey! It's crowded--we can wait from in here I thi--" The blond teen lost his balance as the vulpix pulled him along. Catching himself on the handrail, Shepard rolled his eyes. "Okay, okay. Let go of my hand and we can go."
Fiero balanced on Shepard's shoulder the pair made their way onto the deck, the sea air raking through his hair as the boat slowly began to pull towards the port. A sudden elbow into his rubs, and Shepard bared his teeth through the pain, sending daggers towards the offending trainer. "Hey, watch your elbows, man." Shepard told the other teen, Vulpix barking in what seemed to be agreement--though mostly towards the one eyed sword in the kid's backpack.

Holding his Totdile tightly in his arms as to not let the little beast run off, Jackson swung his head upwards, his medium-length brunette hair swishing off of his face. Standing on the deck of the ship and peering over the railings, the tall boy looked to the island that they approached, slowly but surely. This was it, they'd finally made it! After a long and somewhat boring boat ride across the sea, the large group of people had made it. He noticed that for the most part, it'd been somewhat hard to for everyone to keep their Pokemon occupied, but after a week or so of travel, they'd all successfully made it in one piece.
Watching as the local crowd cheered bellow, a sense of excitement filled the teen and his Pokemon as well. "Hey, calm down, will ya? We're almost there, I promise," Jack whispered as Chompy wriggled about in his arms, clearly wanting down and out of his grasp. It would've been an understatement to say his Pokemon was a little bit of a handful, but he was proud of the stocky reptile for keeping his cool the entire trip. If he could just make it a little longer, it'd save them both the embarrassment.

As excited as Claire was to see the island and actually get off the boat, she was not thrilled about the crowd that had gathered on deck. She clutched her Gible in her free arm with her massive wheeled suitcase being pulled behind her. Her Gible, affectionately nicknamed Giblets, felt a little squished and squirmed slightly, but picked up on how uncomfortable Claire felt so he didn't protest as much as he normally would've. Eventually, she steeled herself and moved towards the group only to be elbowed as a boy quickly shoved past her. "Hey!" she protested, but he was already lost amid the crowd.

Lydia calmly stepped off the boat, her feet finally touching the solid ground they yearned for. Her blue green eyes looked up lazily towards the island that laid in front of the crowd of trainers. She slowly stroked her orange bangs over to the side so she could get a better look. Her mouth rested still, her eyes showed no emotion, she looked absolutely emotionless here. Although, that was only half correct. She wasn't anxious and brimming with excitement like the others, but her mind was busying itself in thoughts about the future. What awaited them here? What triumphs? What sorrows? Lydia was pulled out of those thoughts with the sound of the roaring crowd. The people cheered and raised their hands, even the wild pokemon seemed to rejoice at their arrival. What is it they are so happy about with the trainers? More employees? League players? Do they believe these trainers will support their economy or something? Or are they simply looking for a show? Lydia shook her head side to side, orange locks of hair lightly smacking her face. It didn't matter. She'd come here, have a fun time training her and her buddy, find more buddies, train them, become stronger.
Lydia held her Trapinch in her hands. The Trapinch began to struggle around and whine, thrashing his large head around. He threw his head towards Lydia's bag, and opened his jaws wide with a loud growl. Lydia stared down as he snapped his huge jaws at her bag. She knew what it meant, altough it appeared he was simply throwing a fit. He was hungry and trying to reach for the berries they packed back in Unova. Lydia stared down at Trapinch and glared a tiny bit, although her eyes showed a little sympathy. She was a bit hungry to. "Kora, we'll eat later. Just be patient," she said. Kora swung his head up towards Lydia's face and opened his jaws as wide as they would go with a loud whine, sounding somewhat sad. He's usually very calm and quiet, unless he's hungry. "Oh fine, but just one for now..." she reached one hand into her bag and quickly pulled out a Babiri berry. Her left arm held Kora, the other held the berry up to his mouth. Kora squeaked in joy before digging his huge fangs into the extremely tough berry. Lydia personally didn't like the taste, but Kora loved the dry and spicy flavor. The Trapinch now laid quietly muching on the berry, so Lydia focused back on the island in front of them.

Since she was originally from the city, a boat ride to the islands was a total first for her. Astra was pretty worried that she and eevee would be curled up on her bed trying not die from seasickness. However when the boat slowly started it's descent Astra realized she got anxious for no reason. The sea fascinated her from the twinkling waves, the bright blue skies, the glorious gleaming sun, and the amazing pokemon she saw all lead to great first time boat voyage. Astra spent the majority of the trip in the very front of the ship- the bow. She took countless photos of her and eevee doing silly shenanigans.
Astra lost track of time during her grand adventure. Before she knew it the glorious islands started coming into view, her chocolate brown eyes sparkled in awe. She looked down at her tiny partner eevee who seemed just as mesmerized, by the magnificent view. As they got closer to the island's Astra knew that she should act quickly so she wouldn't be trapped in a horde of people all trying to exit the boat but it was too late.. Swarms of trainers were already rushing to get onto land, pushing and shoving their way through. She sighed, now she had to deal with this tiresome situation, she joined the others softly pushing her way through to get off the boat.

There was another honk, rattling the floorboards underfoot and even the dock below. Slowly, each ship began to drop ramps, workers rushing to lower them gently onto the harbor platforms. As soon as the gate was opened, people began to disembark, careful down the steep but ruddy ramp. It was time to step out into the city.

"Dad, let's go!" Ramona made it hard for him to comply with her demand. She was still small enough to weave beneath the arms and between the bodies of people, even with her backpack slung over one shoulder. It switched back and forth whenever fatigue hit, but never found both arms at once.
Ernest groaned. He raised an arm, called for her to slow down, but he knew she wasn't looking back or waiting for him. He fought against that parental panic of your child leaving you behind in a large crowd. He knew she would be okay. He knew she would never forgive him if he embarrassed her, and that was not the type of start he wanted for this adventure of theirs.
The Amrys Islands, the melting pot of the world. He checked his phone to find two new voicemails from his ex-wife. He would definitely save those for later.

The last time Astrid had seen Haunglu City, it had been on a boat smaller than this one, watching from the stern with her mother at her side. The city towers dwindled into a pinprick of light at the edge of the black expanse of water, before extinguishing entirely. Back then, her chin barely came up above the railing. Now she watched the glittering skyscrapers jut out again from the sea, rising like a jagged mountain face of glass and concrete, somehow even more dazzling and dizzying than she had remembered.
A dark shape fluttered at her shoulder, fluffing and preening its glossy feathers in the shade of its trainer's hat. Astrid had been Murkrow's master for less than two weeks, and in her mind, that was still too early to give it a nickname. What if something unlucky happened? And master was a loose term. The first time she'd let her Pokémon out of its Poké Ball, it flew off screeching into the dusk and she figured that was the end of her trainer career. In spite of her self, she endured two sleepless days and nights, searching every corner of Ecruteak City and the surrounding wilderness, for nothing. Just when she'd given up, she woke up one foggy morning from her watch on the manor balcony, with a lone Murkrow roosting in the skeletal branches of the tree outside.
After she got him back in the ball, he didn't come out for five days. Murkrow hadn't flown away again since. They were still learning this as they went.
"This is home," she said, not sure if she was talking to the bird or herself. "Or, was home. And I guess it's your home now too." Amrys was her father's country, where she'd spent hazy childhood days living in one luxurious downtown apartment after another, cared for by a seemingly endless rotation of uncles and aunts while her parents were gone, always out working. Their time together, all of three of them as a family, was limited to brief windows and occasional dinner at the table. If Murkrow could comprehend a word she was saying, the Pokémon didn't give any sign of it, disinterestedly primping his plume feathers.
Her memories of her father were more vague feelings than recollections. There was a day, she wasn't sure when exactly, where he walked out like he always did, and that was the final time. Her mother brought her back to Johto, to an ancient and crumbling family estate called Peacehill. Now that her mother couldn't take care of her, she had found there was apparently no real family that could; it turned out she actually didn't have a single aunt or uncle on either side of her family. Wasn't that strange? But she was used to strange.
Astrid's grip tightened on the rail, an inexplicable flit of trepidation in her chest as the boat drew into the busy harbor, but she pushed it down. "Murkrow, return." The bird let out a raucous cry of surprise or indignation as the tip of the Poké Ball suddenly touched against its beak, swallowing him in red light. She made herself skinny to avoid getting trampled by the jostling crowd, and decided she'd like some solid earth beneath her feet. Yes. Things would be better once she got on the ground and put Johto behind her for good.
The captain gave another bellow from his horn, dropping the ramps, and letting the flood of new arrivals down onto the pier. She moved with the human current, packed in by people and Pokémon at every side.

"Ah! Oh no, oh no, oh no..." Mickey scrambled around the cabin, quickly finding and throwing on his bag, which reached down to his knees. How could he be late? This is, like... the coolest day of his life! He can't oversleep here! He burst through the boat door, and immediatly his eyes were filled with the sight of trainers and their pokemon. His ears were filled with the cheers of different people. It was so amazing to hear! Though, he couldn't focus pn that. Where was his buddy? Wyra was in the water the last time he checked... Mickey went towards the edge of the deck and looked into the water. "Wyra..! Ya there? Come on, we gotta go!" he called into the water. After a few seconds, a shadow began to appear from within the water, until eventually a Magikarp flew upwards. It had some white and black splotches on top of it's regular red scales. The fish jumped up high before it came down, landing right in Mickey's arms, who fell over from the weight and impact. "Wyra... how are you so heavy..?" Mickey breathed as he managed to haul the huge fish up in order to stand. He had to wrap his arms around the karp just to hold it. Wyra wriggled around a bit in his arms, letting out a "Kaaarp". Mickey's eyes could see a tiny bit passed Wyra, he then rushed forward to the rest of the trainers, but accidentally bumped into someone. Mickey fell over, dropping Wyra who was now flopping on the deck in front of him. He looked up a bit to see a Trapinch and a half-eaten berry on the ground. A girl then leaned over and picked both up, giving Mickey a weird look. It was sort of like a glare, but not as angry, if that makes sense. Mickey quickly got up to his feet, "Oh, I'm sorry!" he quickly scooped Wyra up before quickly shuffling away from the girl, "Sorry sorry sorry...". After that, he was walking alongside the crowd of trainers spilling out onto the island.
Lydia was surprised when she felt someone run into her, dropping Kora and the Babiri berry onto the ground. Kora whined a bit from shock and his legs kicked the air around him. She looked over to see a little boy with a Magikarp in front of him. As she picked Kora and the berry up, she just stared at the kid. Who would bring a Magikarp to a league?. Ah well, it didn't matter. After the boy ran off to join the trainers, Lydia gave the now slightly dirty berry back to Kora, who quickly calmed down as he swiftly resumed crunching on the berry. She walked among the torrent of trainers who all are trying to get off the decks ASAP.

"Welcome" everyone says and then all your characters get moved into the Pokemon Center Tower and then you see Sachihiro Park and he is a strange, aloof businessman person and you go "Well golly he sure does look imposing!" but you have a respect for him at the same time because of all he's accomplished on the islands, after all you're only here because of him, so you see your shitty little empty dormroom with one tiny and lumpy bed and one window and barren white walls and you go like "wow this sucks" and thus begins your journey you're all free to do your own thing fuck it.
