Jemma hands moved to the Open sign on the window, the words flipped to face her. She spent a moment studying it, her eyes lifting to the cacophony up the street. A boat sounded over everything, followed by a chorus of a few more. This was the day that everyone was coming. Surely there would be some customers.
Jynx waited behind her, an empty tray in her hand. Behind everything was the sizzle of the kitchen stoves, the cook's meticulous preparations. Jemma analyzed her diner's decoration, the old jukebox with all the hits from Goldenrod City, the black and white checkered floors and the walls suffocated with souvenirs and novelty signs: On the Road to Viridian City, Ducklett Crossing, Yield! Cautiously, she flipped the sign, sinking into a booth and waiting. She'd been open for months. Why was she so nervous?
